Serving at North Hills

Our Four-Step Process

We’re so excited to partner with you as part of the North Hills family! Because we care deeply about safety, trust, and transparency—and in keeping with California requirements—we have a simple volunteer process in place. This process applies to anyone 18 years or older who serves one hour per month or twelve hours per year. If you have any questions along the way, we’re always happy to help.

Step 1

Because we care deeply about the safety of our church family, especially children and vulnerable adults, we ask all regular volunteers to complete a one-time background check, which includes fingerprinting through Live Scan. Simply download and fill out the form HEREhen use the button below to find a nearby Live Scan location. Once you’ve completed it, we’ll gladly reimburse the fee when you provide your receipt.

Step 2

To help us create a safe and caring environment for every child, all regular volunteers complete a child abuse recognition and reporting training. This online course is provided by the State of California and is required every two years. You can access the course below, complete the training at your own pace, and download your certificate of completion. Once finished, we’ll reimburse the cost when you provide your receipt.

Step 3

Once you’ve completed Steps 1 and 2, please cross out any sensitive personal information on your Live Scan form. Then email or bring in both your Live Scan form and your Mandated Reporter training certificate.

We’ll securely keep these on file and take care of reminding you when your Mandated Reporter training is due again. This is also when we’ll reimburse any related fees, if you’d like.

Step 4

Finally, if you haven't already done so, please take a moment to complete our volunteer information form. Even if you’ve already connected with a ministry leader, this step helps us stay organized and ensures we’re able to support you well.

By gathering this information in one place, we can better coordinate our teams, place you where you’ll thrive, and care for you as you serve.
